Preview: SJS vs. BUF

JakeBot   12 October 2017

Let's talk about narratives.

It is only game #3 of the 2017-2018 season, but two very lackluster games thus far have already planted bad seeds for what may become of this season.

I am here to tell you to not buy into these early season narratives, except the Maple Leafs offense, that is gonna be fun to watch all season. These narratives are what people named Kevin Kurz and his lot have to churn out to fill column inches as the season settles in when the only thing Sharks fans should be ticked off about thus far is the five-day gap between games. So much for hockey being back if the schedule makers are gonna let that sort of gap fly.

So while these early NHL narratives mean almost nothing, here are some more interesting narratives from the last five days from around the rest of the world:

  • The Cleveland Indians lost 3 games in a row to let the Yankees win their ALDS and prove that the regular season doesn’t mean anything.
  • In Austria, a man dressed as a shark was fined about $176 USD under the country’s new anti-burqa laws since the costume covered his face and he refused to remove it.
  • California caught on fire. Who can say California doesn’t have seasons when “Fire Season” is real.
  • The US Men’s National Soccer Team lost to Trinidad & Tobago. This means no World Cup for the USA. lol.

But in the meantime, ignore Martin Jones’ .864 sv%, ignore Brent Burns -5 plus/minus rating, and ignore Brenden “Dilly” Dillon being on the team and tied for the points lead.

Why? Because it is only two games in and nothing matters… yet.

Sit back and enjoy some hockey.

Prediction: Buffalo wins 4-2 with three of their goals being flukey as hell in a game the Sharks probably should win, but hey, this is Buffalo.
